About Me

My photo
Cristina Leigh
Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Have been living in Key Biscayne, Miami-Dade County, Florida since 1995. In a land of the most dramatic sunrises and spectacular sunsets, around which dolphins, tarpins, and manatees swim, upon where cardinals, hawks, blue jays, and wood peckers fly, most of us Key Biscayners feel the call to create. There’s this ongoing inspiration in the air that makes the inhabitants of this island feel like being in paradise. This is where I felt the call to create art. I often go around the island searching for the catch of the day which might translate into an image on a canvas later. I start early in the morning, during my walk at the beach before the sun rises. A little later I go to Bill Baggs State Park where cardinals and birds of prey share the flying space along with ibises and egrets. Squirrels, iguanas or a nippy rabbit many times cross my path. Sometimes a drive around The Links, the golf course, will bring a rainbow behind the smooth mounds framed by the palm and coconut trees. Even the ponds formed by the rain will provide an attractive reflection. Painting is my way to return the gift that I constantly receive.
